Política Editorial

Escopo: A série chamada Advanced Research in English Series – ARES – é uma coleção de livros do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Inglês – PPGI – organizada por seus professores e editores convidados, com publicação por demanda e disponibilizada por meio de acesso livre. O escopo da coleção inclui as duas áreas de concentração do Programa: Estudos da Linguagem e Estudos Literários e Culturais. 

Histórico: A série ARES foi criada por um grupo de docentes do PPGI (Carmen Rosa Caldas-Coulthard, José Roberto O’Shea, Susana B. Funck e Walter Carlos Costa), no ano de 1997. Os três primeiros volumes da série contêm teses de promoção para professor titular de docentes do PPGI. Posteriormente, foram publicadas quatro teses de doutorado de docentes PPGI (ARES 4, 5, 6, 7). Já o oitavo volume traz uma coletânea de quase quarenta trabalhos na área de linguística aplicada, apresentados durante o evento XVII ENPULI – Encontro Nacional de Professores Universitários de Língua Inglesa, organizado pelo PPGI. O volume 9 reúne artigos redigidos por quatro docentes do PPGI, enquanto os volumes 10, 11 e 12 foram dedicados à publicação de teses de doutorado de três docentes do PPGI. Entre 1997 e 2018, foram publicados doze volumes da série. Em 2021, uma nova comissão editorial foi estabelecida, e a série ARES passou a ter uma política editorial mais voltada para redes de pesquisa nacionais e internacionais, mas mantendo o desejo inicial de seus criadores de publicar textos advindos de pesquisas avançadas que versam sobre temas correlatos às áreas de concentração do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Inglês.

Política de avaliação: Os textos serão avaliados pelos editores e por pareceristas anônimos, convidados pelos editores de cada volume.

 

Editorial Policy

Scope: The series called Advanced Research in English Series – ARES – is a collection of books from the Postgraduate Programme in English (Programa de Pós-Graduação em Inglês – PPGI), organized by its lecturing staff and by guest editors, published on demand, and free of charge on the web. The scope of the collection includes the two areas on which the Programme concentrates:  Language Studies, and Literary and Cultural Studies. 

History: The ARES series was created by a group of professors of the PPGI (Carmen Rosa Caldas-Coulthard, José Roberto O’Shea, Susana B. Funck and Walter Carlos Costa), in 1997. The first three volumes of the series contain theses written and submitted by lecturers of the PPGI in processes of application for promotion to the title of professor. Later, four doctoral theses by lecturers of the PPGI were published (ARES 4, 5, 6, and 7). Volume 8 is a collection of almost 40 works in the area of applied linguistics, presented during the 27th Brazilian National Meeting of University Teachers of the English Language (Encontro Nacional de Professores Universitários de Língua Inglesa, or ENPULI), organized by the PPGI. Volume 9 brings together articles written by four lecturers of the PPGI, while volumes 10, 11 and 12 were dedicated to publication of doctoral theses of three PPGI lecturers. These twelve volumes of the series were published from 1997 through 2018. In 2021, a new editorial committee was established, and the editorial policy of ARES moved more towards Brazilian and international research networks, but maintaining the initial desire of its creators to publish texts resulting from advanced research on themes related to the areas on which the Postgraduate Programme in English concentrates.

Assessment policy: Texts are assessed by the editors and by anonymous reviewers, invited as guests by the editors of each volume.
