📖 Individual differences in second language acquisition research

In this seminar, we will examine how learners’ individual differences (IDs) affect—and to what extent they explain—L2 learning. The introduction will provide an overview of the main IDs investigated in the field of SLA and then zoom into three IDs, namely motivation, aptitude, and age. We will describe the most recent advances in instruments used to measure these IDs and discuss challenges associated with this type of research. Attendees will be required to read two or three published articles in preparation for this seminar.
